About Planner Mode
The Planner mode is a powerful planning tool that allows you to evaluate the tax situation of your clients for the coming year.
The program provides the following functionalities to help you plan:
- The Planner rate table, which contains the rates for taxes, credits and deductions, as well as other important basic data for the coming taxation year and that you can modify. All planner files that are created are linked to this rate table; and
- The possibility of creating a planner file by rolling forward the current-year client file and, if desired, by importing data entered this client file.

The possibility of creating planner scenarios using Form Scenarios, Tax Scenarios Worksheet (Jump Code: SCENARIOS) or Form Coupling, Taxpayer and Spouse Scenarios Worksheet (Jump Code: CPL SCEN) using the subsequent-year rates in the calculations.

Taxpayer & Spouse Scenarios
When using the Client Manager (Planner Mode), only operations on the planner files can be performed. However, when the Tax Return view is displayed, you can switch between the open current-year client files and the open planner files.
The following table presents the different functionalities available for planner files:

Only the print history for client files is available from the Client Manager. |
Groups available from the Client Manager |
Only the groups created from planner files are available. |

Planner files .1p* files) can be created from the active return or from the Client Manager. The program allows you to create empty planner files (i.e. planner files that do not contain data) or planner files that contain data rolled forward from source client files.

To create a planner file that does not contain data from the Tax Return view or from the Client Manager, on the File menu click Planner, then New.

To create a planner file from data in the active client file proceed as follows:
- On the File menu, click Planner, then Roll Forward Active File.
- The Planner dialog box will be displayed on the screen if it has not been disabled.
Under the File Options and Data Options tabs, select the desired options.
Note that changes made to the options when the planner file is created only remain in effect for that operation. If you want to make a change to the options for all future operations, customize the planner options using the Options and Settings command. - Click OK.
Data from the planner file is displayed in the Tax Return view.

To create one or more planner files from the Client Manager, proceed as follows:
- Select the client files for which you want to create planner files.
- On the File menu, click Planner then, Roll Forward From Selected Files.
- The Planner dialog box will be displayed on the screen if it has not been disabled.
Under the File Options and Data Options tabs, select the desired options.
Note that changes made to the options when the planner files are created only remain in effect for that operation. If you want to make a change to the options for all future operations, customize the planner options using the Options and Settings command. - Click OK.
Planner files created from the current-year client files contain the returns of all family members. In addition, planner files created this way possess the same file name except for the extension .1p*.

The planner log appears on the screen after the creation of the planner files is completed, if applicable. Click Close to return to the initial location.

As in the case of client files, you can open one or more planner files from the Client Manager (Planner Mode) or the Tax Return view.

To open a single planner file from the Tax Return view, proceed by doing one of the following:
- On the File menu, click Planner then Open.
- Select the file that you want to open and click Open.

To open one or more planner files from the Client Manager (Planner Mode), proceed as follows:
- Display the list of planner files in the Client Manager (Planner Mode), then select the planner files that you want to open.
- Press Ctrl+O.

To display the list of planner files in the Client Manager (Planner Mode), proceed as follows:
- Click the
button, then click Client Manager (Planner Mode).
- In the menu bar, click the
button, then click the filter or group that you want to use.
- Click the
button, then select the file in which the search for planner files is to be performed.
