About Preparer Profiles

Information about the preparer, among other things, must appear on certain forms, and this must be entered in a repetitive fashion.

The data entered in a preparer profile will be posted to the appropriate cells and used for calculation purposes.

The preparer profile that you select as default will be used to create new client files. However, you can select a preparer profile to be used instead of the one by default in each client file.

You can create several preparer profiles to meet your requirements. For example, a preparer profile in English and another one in French. You will then be able to select the appropriate preparer profile.

To create a preparer profile, proceed as follows:

  1. In the left menu, click Preparer Profiles.
  2. Click the New button .
  3. The Tax Preparer's Profile form displays. Enter the appropriate information.
  4. Click each tab to enter, in the appropriate forms, data relating to the filing of returns, authorization forms, letters and billing.
  5. Click the button to save the new preparer profile data and set the properties.
  6. Click the button to return to the template view.
Tip: It is possible to convert the preparer profiles created with the previous version of Taxprep Forms. This functionality allows you to retrieve your preparer profiles and, by doing so, prevents you from recreating them.

To modify a preparer profile, proceed as follows:

  1. In the left menu, click Preparer Profiles.
  2. Select the preparer profile that you want to modify.
  3. Click the Open button .
  4. Click each tab to enter, in the appropriate forms, data relating to the filing of returns, authorization forms, letters and billing.
  5. Click the button to save the changes.
  6. Click the button to return to the template view.

To create a copy of a preparer profile, proceed as follows:

  1. In the left menu, click Preparer Profiles.
  2. Select the preparer profile that you want to copy.
  3. Click the button.
  4. Set the preparer profile properties.
  5. Click OK.

To convert one or several preparer profiles created with the previous version of Taxprep Forms, proceed as follows:

  1. In the left menu, click Preparer Profiles.
  2. Click the Convert button .
    The Convert - Preparer Profiles box displays. The location selected by default is the one defined to save preparer profiles created with last year's version.
  3. Select one or several preparer profiles that you want to convert.
  4. Click Open.

The preparer profiles are saved at the location indicated in the options and settings. If the conversion was done for only one preparer’s profile, the converted preparer’s profile is opened in the Preparer Profiles view so it can be modified.

During the roll forward of the client files, the preparer profile selected in the ID form will be kept in cases where the name of the preparer profile is identical to the one in the previous version.

Note: Except for the description, the preparer profiles properties will not be converted.

To delete a preparer profile, proceed as follows:

  1. In the left menu, click Preparer Profiles.
  2. Select the preparer profile that you want to delete.
  3. Click the button .
  4. Click Yes to confirm.

To print a preparer profile, proceed as follows:

  1. In the left menu, click Preparer Profiles.
  2. Double-click the preparer profile you want to print.
    The preparer profile displays.
  3. On the File menu, click Print.
  4. Set the printing options.
  5. Click OK.
