Customized Status
You can define five customized client file statuses in order to meet specific needs such as the creation of filters or diagnostics using the client file status as condition or as displayed information in the Client Manager or in the diagnostics pane.
How to define the customized status
To define the customized client file status, proceed as follows:
- On the Tools menu, click Options and Settings.
- Under Options, click Customized Status.
- Enter the value that you want to attribute for each customized client file status.
- Click OK.
How to use customized statuses in a multi-user environment
If you are using Taxprep Forms in a multi-user environment in which client files can be opened by several preparers, we suggest that you attribute similar descriptions to the customized statuses in order to effectively use this functionality and, therefore, avoid certain problems.
Example: In a multi-user environment, Mr. Smith attributed the value "For approval" to the first customized status, while Mr. Brown attributed the value "Ready to file" to the same customized status. Then, Mr. Smith attributes the "For approval" client file status to client files saved in the location common to all users in the firm.
If Mr. Brown, from his workstation, displays all the client files with a "Ready to file" client file status in the Client Manager, the client files whose client filestatus corresponds to the value of the first customized status will display in the Client Manager, including the client files to which Mr. Smith attributed the "For approval" status.
If Mr. Brown, from his workstation, displays all the client files with a "Ready to file" client file status in the Client Manager, the client files whose client filestatus corresponds to the value of the first customized status will display in the Client Manager, including the client files to which Mr. Smith attributed the "For approval" status.
