Define Filter or Diagnostic Settings
The Filters and Diagnostics Wizard guides you through the steps necessary to create and edit filters and diagnostics. Here are the steps:
Select the type of template that you want to apply to the template. Three options are available: Filter and diagnostic, Filter or Diagnostic. The choice made at this step will determine the number of steps to follow to create the template.
This step consists of selecting the cells or the function to be verified by Taxprep for Trusts, and choosing the operators and the test values that determine if the returns are accepted or rejected.

To set the condition, proceed as follows:
- In the form pane above the Filters and Diagnostics Wizard, display the form containing the cell(s) that will be used to set the condition.
To insert a function instead of a cell from a form, click Insert Function. - Select the cell in the form, then drag it to the condition area in the Filters and Diagnostics Wizard.
The Set the Condition dialog box displays. If you do not want the dialog box to display when you add a cell to the condition area, press and hold the Ctrl key when you drag the cell.
- In the Operator list, click the comparison operator that you want to use.
- In the Value box, enter the test value.
To use the value for last year, in the Advanced options section, select the Use last year's value check box.
- Click OK.
- To add another selection criterion to the condition, click Insert Operator, then select the desired operator.
- Repeat steps 2 to 5.
This step only applies to Filter and diagnostic or Filter types of template.
At this step, indicate which columns should be displayed in the Client Manager when the filter is applied. To select the columns to display in the Client Manager, proceed as follows:
- To add a column, display the applicable form in the form pane located above the Filter and Diagnostic Wizard, select the cell that you want to add, then drag and drop it in the list of columns.
- To delete a column, select the column that you want to delete, then press Delete.
- In the column selection area , select the check boxes corresponding to the name of each column that you want to display in the Client Manager.
- Click and to change the column display order.
This step only applies to the Filter and diagnostic or Diagnostic types of template.
At this step, enter the text that will be displayed in the diagnostics pane.

Select the field in which the diagnotic will display.
The Filters and Diagnostics Wizard will propose fields. If the desired field is not on the list, display the form, then drag the appropriate field to the lower portion of the Filters and Diagnostics Wizard.
