What is the GIFI?

The GIFI is an extended list of financial statement items where each item has a unique code (e.g. cash is 1001).

The CRA has indicated that the codes used will not be changing from one year to another, and although new ones may be added, they will not change the existing codes.

The GIFI enables corporations to select items that are usually shown on their financial statements while providing the same level of detail that they report now.

The GIFI is included in Corporate Taxprep as well as in certain accounting programs that allow for the export of accounting information to Corporate Taxprep.

Export GIFI data to CCH Profit Driver

If you are using the CCH Profit Driver program as a strategic tool for you corporation’s financial planning, you can, when the preparation of the GIFI is completed, export data in an XML file and use this file to start your analysis and your financial strategy.
