Transmission of Notes to the Financial Statements (GIFI)

During the transmission of corporation’s returns by Internet (T2 EFILE), the GIFI information with the notes relating to the financial statements, will be included in the transmission.

It is possible that the transmission of a return is not allowed by the program if its size exceeds the limit authorized by the CRA. In that case, it is possible to reduce the size of the return to transmit by clearing the transmission of notes to the financial statements.

In order not to transmit the notes to the financial statements of the active return, proceed as follows:

Display the form Notes to financial statements (Jump Code: NOTES).
Select the Do not transmit electronically box.

Notes:

It is possible that the transmission of the return without the notes relating to the financial statements is not allowed if the return to transmit still exceeds the CRA’s limit.
In the case where you do not transmit the notes relating to the financial statements at the same time as the return, you will need to send the paper version to the CRA.
