Tax Preparer's Profile

1 – Accounting firm’s address
The information found on this form must be carefully verified, as it will be used for different purposes when printing the tax returns.
If the business name of the firm differs from the French, it must be modified on the appropriate line.
The business name of the firm is found at the bottom of the last page of the federal tax return, in the heading of the letter and the invoice, as well as in financial statements, depending on the options selected in the "Options – Return" section.
2 – Accounting firm's name and address to print in the financial statements
This section allows you to modify the name and address of the firm to be printed on the financial statements. The address indicated by default is the address entered at point 1 of the “Identification” section. If you do not want to print the accounting firm’s address on the self-employment income and expenses statements and on the rental income and expenses statements, clear the option “Use the accounting firm address that is in point 1 of the Section A for Forms T776, T2125, T2042, T2121, T1163 and T1273.” If you want a different address of the firm to be printed on those documents, override the appropriate information.
3 – Contact persons
T1163, T1273 – Name of the contact person to enter
This section allows you to indicate the name of the contact person to enter in Forms T1163 and T1273. It also allows you specify, for this contact person, a different address than the one at point 1 for Forms T1163 and T1273.
T1135 – Name of the contact person to enter
This section allows you to indicate the name and address of the contact person to enter in Form T1135 when this information differs from that at point 1 in the “Identification” section.
4 – Trustees
The name and address of the trustees (maximum 10) can be entered in this section if you expect to prepare bankruptcy returns for one of these firms. This data is posted to the Bankruptcy Identification form and will also be accessible through a drop-down list in the DC905, Bankruptcy Information form.

1 – Indicate the language of correspondence
The choice entered applies to all clients. If the language of correspondence differs for a specific client, it should be indicated on the Identification form in the "Filing information" section.
2 – The taxpayer has paid to have the return prepared
The program selects this check box by default to indicate that the return was prepared for consideration.
The choice entered applies to all clients. If the situation differs for a specific client, it should be indicated on the Identification form in the "Filing information" section.
3 – Print a customized note
- On the last page of the return:
The choice entered applies to all clients. If the situation differs for a specific client, indicate it on the Identification form in the "Filing information" section. - At the bottom of the Two-Year Comparative Review and the Five-year comparative summary:
The choice entered applies to all clients. If, for any given client, the situation is different, it can be indicated at the bottom of Form Two-Year Comparative Review or Form Five-year comparative summary.
- At the bottom of the financial statements:
It is possible to print a customized note at the bottom of each page of the financial statements. You can modify this choice for a specific client by performing an override in the "Filing information" section of the Identification form. - Customized
note:
You can customize the text of the note shown at the bottom of the last page of the return and the financial statements for all clients directly in the Tax Preparer's Profile. You can modify this text, for a particular client, by performing an override in the "Filing information" section of the Identification form.
4 – Province of residence on December 31
By default, the province of residence is "British Columbia" (T1 version) and or "Québec" (TP1 version) and this information is carried forward to the “Taxpayer Identification” section of the Identification form. This option applies to all clients, but the province of residence for a given client may be modified in the "Residency status" section of the Identification form.
5 – Amount attached upon filing
If you select this check box, all the returns in which there is a tax amount payable will be selected on the last page of the T1 General return to indicate (if applicable) that the sum due is attached upon filing. This option applies to all clients, but it is possible, for a given client, to modify the last page of the income tax and benefit return by clearing the appropriate check box.
6 – Include the $2,000 excess RRSP contribution in the calculation of the limit
You must select this check box if you want to include the $2,000 excess contribution in the calculation of the RRSP/PRPP deduction limit. The choice entered applies to all clients and cannot be modified for only one client.
8 - Calculation made for Schedule K from group insurance plan (slips T4, T4A, RL-1 and 22)
In Taxprep, it is assumed by default that the taxpayer and the spouse were insured throughout the year when an amount is entered in the T4 slip (box 85) and the RL-1 slip (box J, or P 235), or on the T4A slip (box 107) or the RL-22 slip. You can cancel this assumption by clearing the check box Calculation made for Schedule K from the group insurance plan (T4, T4A, RL-1 and 22) in the Tax Preparer’s Profile.
The choice entered applies to all clients and cannot be modified for only one client.

1 – Registration for e-mail notifications in My Account
The Register the taxpayer for e-mail notifications option allows the selection of the corresponding box in the ID form for all your clients.
2 – T1132 - Alternative address authorization (paper return only)
This authorization concerns the current taxation year. This option applies to all clients. Form T1132, Alternative Address Authorization, authorizes the mailing of the notice of assessment and refund cheque (if applicable) to another address than the taxpayer’s usual address. However, if, for a specific client, you want to modify your choice, use Form T1132.
- Notice of Assessment and refund cheque (if applicable)
When this check box is selected, the CRA will suspend, for this refund only, the direct deposit service; the notice of assessment and the refund cheque (if applicable) will be sent and to the other address, i.e. the address on Form T1132. - Notice of Assessment only
The notice of assessment will be sent to the other address, i.e. the address on Form T1132. However, if the taxpayer is eligible for a refund, it will be deposited directly in the bank account, according to the direct deposit information entered in the CRA’s files.
Notice of assessments and refund cheques cannot be sent to the other address for the purpose of Québec returns.
3 – Implicit information for instalments
You must indicate the instalment calculation method you want to use for all your clients, (method based on the previous year or method based on the second preceding year), even if the previous year’s tax is less than $3,000 ($1,800 for Québec).
By default, the program selects the check box second preceding year in order for the calculation method used to be the method based on the second preceding year. Note that the second preceding year method is also used by the various government authorities. This option applies to all clients.
If you want to modify the choice of the instalment calculation method used for all your clients, you must select the check boxes in the T1 and TP1 columns, because no calculation automatically posts the information to the TP1 column. If you want to modify the method used for one client only, you must make the necessary changes in the appropriate section of the Federal Instalments Worksheet and the Québec Instalments Schedule.
- Round to the nearest $100
You must select this check box if you want the instalment calculation to round off to the nearest $100 for the amount payable. The advantage of proceeding this way is that the rounded amount is slightly higher than what would normally be calculated. By default, this check box is not selected. This option applies to all your clients and cannot be modified for only one client.
18 – Automatically designate the RRSP/PRPP/SPP contributions as repayment under the HBP and or LLP.
Select these check boxes if you want, for all of your clients, the RRSP/PRPP/SPP contributions to be automatically designated as repayment under the HBP and or LLP, up to the repayment amount required in the year. However, you will be able to modify these choices for a particular return in Form HBP and/or Form LLP.

1 - Printing of labels
By default, the program prints a label for the taxpayer. You may modify this option for a specific client directly from the Labels form.
2 - Notice to be printed
A "PERSONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL" notice is printed on each label. You may modify this choice for a specific client directly from the Labels – Worksheet form (Jump Code: LABELS).
