Print - PDF Files

This panel groups the options that apply to PDF files generated when printing returns, forms or any other document.

Saving and protection options

Prompt for PDF file name

Displays a dialog box that allows you, each time you print to a PDF file, to save the PDF file under another name and to a location other than the one defined by default. Once enabled, this option will display a dialog box when printing returns, forms or any other document that can be printed to a PDF file.

Overwrite existing PDF files

Automatically replaces existing PDF files in a specific location. When this option is disabled, an incremental number is assigned to each new file, with the result that existing files are not overwritten.

Security

Provides the ability of adding a default password when generating a PDF file. You can choose to be prompted for a password each time or you can use the social insurance number as the password.


PDF files location

Specify a folder

Saves the PDF files to the specified folder.

Same folder as client file

Saves the PDF files to the same folder as the client files.
This option only applies to PDF files generated from client files. The PDF files that are not generated from client files will be saved to the folder specified above.

Separate PDF slips for

Create separate PDF files for each

Allows you to print the copies intended for to a separate PDF file.

Note: The options in this section have no impact on the copies intended for the applicable tax authority or the issuer.

Security for separate PDF files

Provides the ability of adding a default password when generating PDF files intended for (e.g., copies 2 and 3 of a T4 slip).

Syntax of PDF filenames

Printing type

Displays the list of printing types for which the syntax of a PDF file can be modified. The syntax can be modified for returns and forms.

Syntax

Allows you to choose among certain options that will be used to form the name that will be given to PDF files. Consult the topic Customize the syntax of PDF files to obtain the complete list of possible choices to use for the syntax of a PDF filename.

Edit custom items

Allows you to customize the items that you can use to constitute the name that will be given to the PDF files.

Replace spaces with underscores

Allows you to replace the spaces in the name of a PDF file with underscores.
