Taxprep Slips Data Import

Personal Taxprep allows you to import slips generated in Taxprep for Trusts and/or Taxprep Forms for one or more clients per client file.

Therefore, when a preparer generates slips for a beneficiary in Taxprep for Trusts or for a recipient in Taxprep Forms as well as the T1 return of this taxpayer, he/she can import data entered in Taxprep for Trusts and/or Taxprep Forms directly into the T1 return, thus saving preparation time.

The slips available for Taxprep slips data export prepared using Taxprep for Trusts are the T3 slip as well as the RL-16 slip.

The slips available for Taxprep slips data export prepared using Taxprep Forms are the T3, T4, T4A, T5, T5013 slips as well as the equivalent Québec RL slips. In addition, Form T2200 can also be imported.

The Taxprep slips data import can be suggested automatically when opening a client file (it can be a current-year file or a planner client file) or performed manually.

  • Automatic import
    When opening a client file, if Personal Taxprep establishes a link between slips data exported from Taxprep for Trusts and/or Taxprep Forms and either one of the taxpayers in the current client file, a dialog box where you can select the files you want to import into Personal Taxprep will display.
    If you do not want to be prompted for automatic import each time a correspondence is established, clear the Activate search of Taxprep slips data to import when opening client files check box available in the Import/Export > Taxprep Slips Data panel of the options and settings.
  • Manual import
    To import data from Taxprep slips manually into the current client file, use the Taxprep Slips Data command available under the File menu and the Import Data. submenu.

Import Log

Once the Taxprep slips data import is finished, Personal Taxprep, saves and displays a log on which appears the file name, the taxpayer’s name, the form’s jump code, the cell description, the value indicated as well as the result.

These logs are retained by Personal Taxprep for subsequent consulting purposes.

Password-protected files

If a password has been used to protect data in Taxprep for Trusts and/or Taxprep Forms, it will also have to be used when you import data into Personal Taxprep. If you regularly work with password-protected files, Personal Taxprep allows you to save them in a password list.

In the FILE form, you can get a summary of the information with regard to Taxprep slips data import. The following information is listed:

  • the number of imported forms
  • the name of the user who performed the first import
  • the date of the last import
