Attach a File
You can attach files to the returns to help with their processing.
To attach a file to a return, proceed as follows:
- In the Return view, display the return to which you want to attach one or more files.
- In the File
menu, click Attached Files.
The Attached files dialog box is displayed. - Click , select the file you want
to attach, and click Open.

Note: You can only select one file at a time.
Attached files properties
The Attached files properties dialog box allows you to select the transmissions for which you want to transmit the supporting documents and set the properties.
All attached files will be listed in the Attached files dialog box. The following information will be indicated for each file:

the icon indicating whether it is an embedded or a linked file;
- the file name (with the file extension, depending on the Windows configuration);
- the file size;
- the type of transmission for which you want to attach a supporting document;
In addition, the button allows you to access the Attached files properties dialog box.

Attached files can be used as supporting documents for electronically transmitted forms. To attach a supporting document to such a form, proceed as follows:
- In the Attached files properties dialog box, under Transmit with, select the check box for the files that you want to attach a supporting document (MR-69).
- In the General section, select the Embedded option to save the attached file to the client file.
You can also link the attached file without saving it to the client file. To do so, select the Link option and select the file location.
Note: We recommend linking the attached files when transmitting a large number of supporting documents to the CRA in order not to affect performance. - In the Type list, select the type of document to transmit.
- In the Copy field, select the copy of the form MR-69 with which you want to associate a supporting document.
Note: The Copy field cannot be used to perform a search using the keyboard. You must click the button and select the copy of the form with which you want to associate a supporting document.
The EFILE Status field allows you to review the EFILE status of a supporting document. For more information on the EFILE status of a supporting document, consult the topic EFILE status of a supporting document. - Click OK.
Validation of supporting documents attached to a MR-69 transmission
Here are some important points regarding the transmission:
- The electronic transmission of MR-69 data must always be accompanied by a signed PDF copy of Form MR-69.
- Supporting documents (if any) must be combined into a single file that is separate from the signed PDF copy of Form MR-69.
- Only the following file types are accepted for the transmission of supporting documents: .pdf, .jpg and .tiff.
- The file size cannot exceed 25 MB.
- The file name cannot contain spaces nor any of the following characters:

Note: You can modify the syntax of the name of printed PDF files from Taxprep in the PDF Files pane of the Print section in the Options and Settings dialog box.

- You must enter your NetFile Québec credentials in the Québec tab of the Identification pane under the Electronic Services section of the Options and Settings dialog box.
