Active Return Properties

The General tab contains information specific to the selected taxpayer and all taxpayers in the client file:

• taxpayer’s name and social insurance number;
• return status (the value of the status is specific to the return of the selected taxpayer);
• EFILE status (the value of these statuses are specific to the documents of the selected taxpayer);
• print status (the value of these statuses are specific to the documents of the selected taxpayer);
• preparer’s notes (this option applies to the client file);
• whether or not data is locked (this option applies to the client file); and
• whether or not the return is password-protected (this option applies to the client file).

The Attached Files tab contains the following information:

• the file name of the current return;
•  the name of the taxpayer, spouse or dependants;
• the commands allowing you to manage the operations related to the attached files among which the option allowing you to keep the attached file when rolling forward the file;
• the display pane of the attached files.

The Security tab contains the following information:

• password for client file protection;
• check box allowing for transmission if password unknown.

To display the active return properties, proceed in the following manner:

• On the File menu, click Properties.
• Press F11.
• Display the properties pane in the Client Manager.

Personal Taxprep can automatically display return properties before saving client file data; this prompts you to modify the different return statuses throughout return processing.

To display properties before saving, proceed as follows:

1. On the Tools menu, click Options and Settings.
2. Under Options, click Tax Returns.
3. In the File save options area, select the Show file properties before saving check box.
4. Click OK.
