Retrieve the Network Configuration (Advanced Network version)

It is possible to retrieve the network configuration the same way it was customized in the previous version. If the previous major version is installed, you will be prompted to retrieve this version the first time you access the network options as an administrator.

Note: This functionality is available from the Retrieve configuration button of the Advanced Network view .

A wizard guides you in the retrieval steps of the customized configuration. From this wizard, you must enter a valid administrator name and password for the previous version in the event that you changed them in the current version.

Customized templates

Before retrieving the previous version's configuration, ensure that the customized templates (filters and diagnostics, print formats, letters and labels as well as preparer profiles) have already been retrieved from the previous version in order for the associated configuration to be retrieved as well.

Conversion of administrators account

Administrators accounts are not retrieved in the previous version in order to prevent an administrator from inadvertently overwriting the account (name and password) of another administrator. These accounts must be created with the current version. However, rights on functionalities and options and settings are retrieved.

Note: To avoid having to recreate the entire Administrators group, you can proceed as follows:

  1. In the previous version (the version including the accounts to be converted), create a group in which you will include all of the administrators, except one, since the Administrators group must include one account.
  2. In the current version (the version where you want to retrieve the accounts), retrieve the groups. Then replace the newly created members of the group in the Administrators group. Remember to manually add the account that was left in the Administrators group of the previous version.

Cancelling the retrieval process

If you cancel the retrieval process while it is in progress, the wizard will cancel the retrieval of the network configuration and will leave it as it was before the retrieval request.

Customizing the current version

Retrieval of the regular network configuration reassigns the default value to the options and properties that were added to the current version in the same manner as it overwrites all manual changes to the current version. Therefore, it is better to retrieve the configuration before customizing it, because you modified the settings, you must customize them again once retrieval of the configuration is complete.

All groups are retrieved except for the Administrators group that you must manually customize. If you already created other groups or users for the current version, they will be destroyed and replaced by those that were retrieved. Only the administrators accounts remain intact in the current version during the configuration retrieval process.

Retrieving the regular Network version configuration in an Advanced Network version

It is impossible to retrieve the configuration of a Regular Network if the current version is an Advanced Network version. If the current version is a Regular Network version, you can proceed with the retrieval of the configuration only if the previous major version was a Regular Network version.
