Specify the Source Return for Monitor Cells
By default, Personal Taxprep will display the data from the current return for each cell in the monitor.
However, for each cell in the monitor, you can specify if the displayed values are from the taxpayer, spouse or dependant’s return. This allows you to view information from the taxpayer, spouse and dependants' returns in the same monitor.
Example: A client file contains the returns of John and Jane Smith as well as their son’s Jack. When John’s return is displayed, the cells in the monitor display the values pertaining to John’s return. If you specified that a cell from the monitor must only display the value in Jack’s return, this value will be displayed in the monitor regardless if the current return is that of John’s, Jane’s or Jack’s.
How to specify the source return for a cell
To specify the source return for a cell in the monitor, proceed as follows:
- Show the monitor.
- Position the pointer on the cell for which you want to specify the return.
- Right-click and click Select Specific Return.
- Click the return that you want to use for that cell.
- Click OK.
Click Default so that the value in the cell will be the one in the active return.
