Import Bankruptcy Data
Personal Taxprep allows you to import pertinent tax data from a taxpayer’s pre-bankruptcy return into the post-bankruptcy return.
The imported data is inserted in the appropriate forms as well as in Form Bankruptcy Information (Jump Code: BANKRUPTCY) of the current return.
In order to import data from the pre-bankruptcy return into the post-bankruptcy return, proceed as follows:
- Display the taxpayer’s post-bankruptcy return. It can be a current-year or a planner return.
The return must be saved for the import process to work. - Display Form Bankruptcy - Bankruptcy Information (Jump Code: BANKRUPTCY), and select the “post-bankruptcy” type of return.
You cannot import bankruptcy data from the spouse or dependant's Bankruptcy - Bankruptcy Information form. - On the File menu, click Import Data, and then Bankruptcy.
- Select the client file which contains the pre-bankruptcy return.
- Click OK.
Personal Taxprep enters the name and the location of the client file containing the pre-bankruptcy return in Form Bankruptcy Information in the post-bankruptcy return.
