Import Data

Importing consists in recovering a file created by another application such as a spreadsheet program or an accounting program.

Personal Taxprep allows you to import the following types of files:

  • .csv files. This file format contains items from a spreadsheet or a database with cells separated by column breaks and which can be created with any type of text editor;
  • .xls* files (worksheet). This type of file is created with Microsoft Excel©.

Personal Taxprep allows the user to import tax data (all input cells in forms may contain imported data) from one or several clients. While data is imported one file at a time, the file to import may contain the tax data of several clients.

Data may be imported from the Client Manager or from the current return. If you start to import data from a current file, data will be imported into this return.

Notes:

  • If there is data in the cells where you want to import, Personal Taxprep will replace the existing data.
  • If data must be imported into calculated cells, Personal Taxprep will prompt you to confirm the override.
