Additional Information Regarding Downloaded Data
Here is some additional information regarding the transfer of tax data downloaded to the taxpayer's return.
Personal Taxprep makes a pre association between the slips downloaded of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and those downloaded of Revenu Québec, as well as between data on these slips and data already in the return, as applicable (following a roll forward, a data import with CCH Scan, etc.). However, it is strongly recommended that you review the matches before transferring data, as it is not always possible for Personal Taxprep to make all required associations.
The values of certain predefined boxes of the slip are displayed under the issuer’s name to help you make this review. In addition, you can access the complete content of the downloaded slip at any time using the expand located in the field of the issuer’s name.
To modify the association proposed by Personal Taxprep or to create a new one, select the desired slip or copy from the drop-down list for that purpose.
In 2013, Form Continuity of Capital Losses Carryforward (Jump Code: LOSSC) in Personal Taxprep was modified to show a year-by-year breakdown of the losses carried forward to more easily reconcile this information with the loss information available from the CRA. If this information has not already been reconciled, there could be discrepancies between the history of net capital losses carried forward in Personal Taxprep and the tax data downloaded from the CRA.
If you are performing a subsequent download, Personal Taxprep will detect the differences between the two downloads and will do the following:
- if a slip and/or data was not available during the previous download and this slip/data is now available, the “New” status will be assigned;
- if a slip and/or data was modified, the “Amended” status will be assigned;
- if an already downloaded slip and/or data is no longer available, the “Not available” status will be assigned.
In addition the review marks and attached notes will be retained after subsequent downloads.
Once data has been reviewed, you can choose, for each section, whether or not you want to transfer the downloaded data into the taxpayer’s return. To transfer data from a section, select the check box under the Transfer (x) column of the section to transfer, then click the Transfer again button, located in the upper part of the form.
